Just FYI: Adamantium will not penetrate his adamantium skeleton. In Marvel Team-Up: Spider-man/Wolverine, Wolverine was shot point-blank in the head repeatedly with adamantium bullets. The only thing that happened was that it pissed him off. But what's new there.

General Information

He has also gone by the name James Howlett. He has also gone by Weapon X, and Patch.

He was once married to Viper, Ruler of Madripoor. They divorced.

He was born in the late 1880's. He was a very sick child with severe allergies and was housebound. His mutation manifested when he witnessed the murder of his father.

His memories are sketchy at best and might even be false memories due to the implants he received during the Weapon X program. Here are a few things that we know about him, this is by no means a complete history:

  • He met Captain America during World War II.
  • He was part of the Weapon X program where Dr. Cornelius bonded adamantium to his bones.
  • He lead Canada's government run super team, Alpha Flight.
  • He assisted Professor Charles Xavier in rescuing the X-Men from Krakoa. He remained with the X-Men becoming a member himself.
  • At one point, Magneto ripped the adamantium from Logan's body. This also affected his healing factor.
  • He did leave the X-Men for a short period, but returned to help rescue the team when they were captured during the Phalanx invasion.
  • He was captured by Genesis who wanted to graph adamantium back onto his skeleton. The process failed when Logan's body rejected the metal. This caused Logan to go into his animal state.
  • When he returned to his human state, he rejoined the X-Men.
  • He was captured by Apocalypse who successfully returned the adamantium to Logan's body. Apocalypse turned Logan into his horseman, Death.
  • He was freed by the X-Men and once again joined the team.

In the past, Wolverine was not indestructible. He could be killed by bleeding out, lose of major organs, burning, basic major injuries. When he was able to heal, although the healing was rapid in comparison to your typical mutant, it was not as rapid as it is now. It might take days to heal a broken bone.

More recently, he has become nearly indestructible. He healed from dozens of bullet wounds in just a matter of hours. Having his face practically blown off only took him minutes to heal. In response to a fan letter, Marvel answered that even decapitation may not be enough to kill him.

Supposedly, he is not immortal. He will age and die eventually. Just not with the speed of your average human.

Notes:
I am not an expert on Wolverine by any means. I don't read his individual titles. I will be asking my buddy Patch5129 (who is my Wolverine guru) to possibly help me out with this.
